PistolHip Home - Shout Out

Check out what we stumbled on through twitter @concretecollab. This awesome blog about sweet sweet concrete. Challenging people to consider the very basic of building materials and the artisans that perfect them. Dwell on Design

We are excited to be a part of Dwell on Design this year. This trade show is part of the bigger Los Angeles Design Festival. Come see Concrete Collaborative at Dwell on Design stand 424 next week June 22-24 at the LA convention center. Oyler Wu Collaborative are displaying a creative installation we can't wait to check out. We are working with them on a new pop up restaurant in Costa Mesa right now. Our mates at Shades of Green Landscape Architecture will be displaying at Dwell Outdoor and using our alabaster trails pavers as part of the design inspiration. We are so thankful for these design partnerships. We have a pretty minimal stand, what a surprise for our contemporary concrete. We do have something new - a through body concrete countertop to show on our stand. This marks the launch of our new Pacifica range of pre-cast slabs for tops.

Manhattan office - custom stair case

Ryan and Chad, partners at concrete collaborative, personally burnished the venice terrazzo tiles at the new Man Group office last month. The feature of the space is a grand stair case, custom designed with our mates at Spector Group. The treads are actually fully self supporting solid concrete terrazzo, a first for us. The clean and crisp alabaster venice terrazzo elevates the design and creates a light as air feel. Everyone involved is pretty excited with the outcome. Happy client, happy architect - the perfect collaboration.

La Jolla Residence, CA

A collaboration featuring our newest finish, a honed concrete tile we call Solana. This stunning creation sits on a hillside with panoramic views of The Cove at La Jolla. Designed by Safdie Rabines Architects, and built by Beecham Construction, the owners of this beauty were in very good hands from the beginning.

The Solana range by Concrete Collaborative allows for seamless flow between indoor and outdoor environments, and provides a much desired matte concrete finish. Available in standard and custom sizes up to 36", the Solana range offers residential and commercial clients a beautifully versatile flooring option.

Rice University: Texas Architect

Texas Architect Magazine features Rice University Brockman Hall For Physics designed by Kierantimberlake Architects. This contemporary building bridges the inside with the out creating a dynamic space. The Trails concrete pavers compliment the Laguna concrete tiles to extend the architectural lines from inside to out and elevate the exterior designed environment. The concrete tiles also add to the environmental focus of this project, as they are striving for LEED Gold.

Concrete Chapel, Australia

Leading Australian architects Bligh Voller Nield have worked with concrete tile on their latest award winning design - the Puckapunyal Military Area Memorial Chapel. Posed with the challenge of making this place for worship multidenominational, BVN used strong design elements and materiality to create harmony.  The architects embraced the depth and presence of polished concrete tiles for the public flooring to create an “experiential quality”. Winning Interior Design Awards (2011 IDA) for both sustainability advancement and public design.
